#DoingLittleThingsWithPassion: Easy ways to make an impact on Giving Tuesday

As we head into the holiday season, we’re preparing for GivingTuesday, which takes place on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This is a day where people and organizations come together to transform their communities and the world. It’s a day for starting conversations and reflecting on how we can give back. There are many ways to participate in GivingTuesday, and just like the countless sticks that come together to build a nest, small contributions can add up to create an impact that lasts for generations. Check out some of the easy ways you can make a positive impact this GivingTuesday.

Ways You Can Make a Difference

Volunteer Your Time and Talents

In order to make a difference, one doesn't always need to spend money — your time and talents are valuable resources. Whether it’s graphic design, content creation, writing letters, SEO expertise, or even just sharing your ideas and passions, these are all things that create an impact. Many nonprofit organizations (EarlyBird256 included!) desperately need these skills in order to do their work. Just like we teach the children we work with, no matter what situation they’re going through, they have the answers within — all they need to do is show up and try their best.

Use Your Voice to Spread the Word About Causes You Care About

Sometimes all it takes for someone to make a difference is to speak up. Spreading the word about important causes doesn’t mean you need to shout from the rooftops — for EarlyBird256, even just interacting with our content and sharing it on social media is enough to help our voice be heard. If you’re interested in advocating girls’ rights, gender equality, mental health, education, and creative expression, then perhaps you can write a guest article for the EarlyBird256 blog. The same is true for any other cause you’re passionate about and the organizations that support them. As John F. Kennedy said, “Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.”

Help Out a Friend

Helping and giving back doesn’t need to happen on a grand scale — it’s just as important to help your community and those around you. This could mean simply checking in and asking a friend if they need anything, surprising them with lunch or a dessert, sending a handwritten note to remind them that you’re thinking of them, or sharing a book you’ve been reading. One can never go wrong with gifting a plant or catching up at brunch via the EarlyBird Brunch Challenge.

Random Acts of Kindness

There’s a famous quote that says, “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.” Kindness is free. This giving Tuesday, as we show up for our communities and causes we care about, let us dig in our hearts as well as our pocket books.

Donate

Donating money takes very little time but has an immense impact. Whether the donation is made to EarlyBird256 or another organization closer to your heart or community, your contribution will be appreciated and put to good use. In order to make sure Uganda’s next generation isn't permanently disadvantaged by the pandemic, EarlyBird256 is raising $10,000 to support our workshops, tutoring, and porridge program. If you’d like to support the girls of Uganda and join the EB256 squad, just follow the link below.

With a mantra of #DoingLittleThingsWithPassion, we believe that no act of kindness is too small. Let us know how you choose to celebrate #GivingTuesday.
