The Health Benefits of Expressing Gratitude

When it comes to doing little things with passion, gratitude is a must. Gratitude is defined as “the quality of being thankful; a readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.” Gratitude is appreciating all the things that we have. Being grateful is a habit, and it’s an integral part of the lifestyle that EarlyBird encourages. It’s one of the key foundations we built our space on.

It is important to make a conscious effort to count one’s blessings. Not only because the universe loves a grateful heart, but also because there are health benefits that come from practicing gratitude. Being grateful generates a climate of positivity that both reaches inward and extends outward, creating an effect not only on yourself, but also your environment — which extends to the whole community. Psychologists find that, over time, feeling grateful boosts happiness and fosters both physical and psychological health. This plays a positive role when it comes to overcoming mental-health problems.

The habit of gratitude can start with simple things, like having a cup of tea with family and friends. But most importantly, it requires self-reflection, making a point to be less cynical and more thankful. During the moments when we’re faced with a tough period, the gratitude-filled response would be to see each challenge as an opportunity to improve yourself. That changes the decision-making approach, reducing stress and leaving the mind clear to find solutions.
