EB256 Movement Fundraisers: Yoga by Margaret From SolLuna Yoga & Wellness

One of EarlyBird256’s missions is to create a safe space where girls are confident in their bodies and voices. We do this through encouraging movement, such as in dance and sports workshops, which are supported by our fundraising efforts. We also collaborate with squad members who have businesses and passions that align with our mission.

Our friends and community members follow our mantra of doing little things with passion, and squad member Margaret set the perfect example. She is the founder of SolLuna Yoga & Wellness, and in May and June, she held free yoga classes where participants were invited to EarlyBird256.

The Results:

  • Six classes were held on Wednesdays at 6pm

  • The  average donation for the class was $10, raising $300 over the duration of the fundraiser.

  • The funds from Margret’s classes helped us provide food for up to 200 girls for four months.

  • The food is being distributed through three of our partner communities: The Help Nest Foundation, Rev. Nayenga Primary School, and Empower Youth Corporation

Before creating SolLuna, Margaret went on a service trip to Uganda with Lasell University, which inspired her to join the squad. According to Margaret, SolLuna was created based on the idea that life is a balancing act of the mind, body, and soul, which is something she would love to impart on the children of Uganda. SolLuna offers private and group yoga classes, as well as corporate wellness workshops, and she’s happy to help with fundraising events where a portion of the proceeds go to EB256

One of the many ways you can join us in supporting our mission is by offering to teach a class inspired by any of our programs. Dance classes, strength and conditioning, breathwork, painting, photography — any little thing done with passion can be an inspiration and a fundraising opportunity to help us achieve our goals. Whether giving a portion of the proceeds or collecting direct donations, these community collaborations are the backbone of EarlyBird256.
